Letting Go of the SilenceSPAN of North Idaho and the Panhandle Health District presents Letting Go of the Silence. This special community event features Carla Fine. Ms. Fine is the best-selling author of “No Time to say Goodbye: Surviving the Suicide of a Loved One”, and co-author of “Touched by Suicide; Hope and Healing After Loss”. Touched by Suicide was co-written with Dr. Michael Meyers, one of the leading clinicians in the field of suicide and professor of psychiatry at SUNY Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn, New York.

Ms. Fine brings suicide survival out of the darkness and into the light. Speaking frankly and with compassion, she reveals the overwhelming feelings that come from attempted suicide. Feelings confusion, guilt, sadness, anger and loneliness which are shared by all survivors. These feelings extend to family, loved ones, and friends. However, they also affect co-workers, fellow students, and even first responders. Suicide’s effects cross generations, creating an unparalleled legacy of pain, mystery and loss.

Ms. Fine lectures extensively to suicide survivors’ groups and professional organizations around the world and offers compassionate guidance for anyone affected by suicide from the dual perspectives of both a survivor and a mental health professional.
