KC Dems are once again a proud sponsor of this important community support event. The 5k walk helps to raise awareness about suicide in our county and community and also helps to raise funds to help those whose lives have been impacted by suicide. Idaho has one of the highest suicide rates in the country, and rates are sadly high here in Kootenai County. It’s likely you know someone who has been touched by the tragedy of suicide. Despite the theme, it’s actually a very uplifting event. Many mental health care providers and other related vendors will be at the event in order to provide information and resources those interested.
In years past, not only have KC Dems been a financial sponsor, but we have also provided volunteer manpower for the event. We are looking to find a few more people who would like to help KC Dems support this event. In 2019 about 900 walkers participated, so there is great visibility for our group! Please contact Cathy Kraus, Community Outreach Chair and volunteer coordinator if you think you’d be able to commit to volunteering at this event. Volunteers need to be able to commit about four hours of their time and have a blue KC Dem shirt to proudly wear at the volunteer stations. Please call Cathy Kraus at 208-818-3030 or email at catk1994@gmail so she can answer questions and give more details.
*If you’d like to participate in the walk, the link for registration will be up soon. The walk is free unless you’d like to buy a long sleeve tee shirt. Check out the SPAN of North Idaho Facebook page and watch here on our website and on the KC Dem Facebook page for more details as they are available.
Can’t walk or volunteer?? You can help support this event by donating to the KC Dem Central Committee to help offset our sponsorship fee. In years past, ALL the sponsorship funds have come from generous KC Dem supporters. If you’d like to help in that way, please make out your check to KCDCC and send to KC Dems, PO Box 1297 CDA 83816. Please put “SPAN walk” in the notation line. Again you can contact Cathy Kraus for any questions. Hope to see you there!!
