SPAN Break the Silence 5k Walk
Saturday, September 22nd, 10 am at Riverstone Park in CDA.
Join fellow Democrats in support of the SPAN Break the Silence 5k walk. SPAN is an acronym for the Suicide Prevention Action Network. Details about their local chapter can be found at SPAN Idaho-Region 1. The annual walk recognizes individuals whose lives ended by suicide. Additionally, this visibility campaign raises suicide awareness and promotes prevention.
To preregister, go to Eventbrite.com. Pre-registration, before September 17th, secures your 2018 “Break the Silence” t-shirt. Otherwise, you can register on race day and buy available shirts for a $25 donation. Same day registration and check-in starts at 8:30AM. In addition to the race, the event includes a speech by Heidi Pratt-Rogers along with post-race snacks and entertainment.
We Stand With SPAN
The Kootenai County Democratic Central Committee believes that suicide prevention aligns with our values. Consequently, we joined other businesses and community organizations as a sponsor of this important community event. To be specific, we contributed $500 which has been offset by four generous members. Their combined donations provided $325 towards our sponsorship. If you wish to help in this way, please let us know.
There are benefits to sponsorship. For example, the event posters and promotional content lists us as a sponsor. In addition, the event t-shirts feature the KC DEMS. Additionally, the event itself offers great exposure for our organization and 2018 candidates. So, plan to participate or just show up to show your support. And, remember to wear your KC Dem shirt to show you are with us.
