From the Coeur d’Alene Press on September 19, 2019:
The Northwest Property Owners Alliance will host a public forum at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library. The forum features candidates running in contested local races in Coeur d’Alene, Hayden and Rathdrum. The two-hour NWPOA Candidate Forum begins at 5:30 on Thursday, October 17.
“We want to shine a spotlight on the candidates and help the public make a choice on who they think will best lead our communities toward the next step,” board member Roger Garlock said.
Previous forums organized by the Northwest Property Owners Alliance have featured candidates for county and state elections. This time, Garlock said the organization wanted to include municipal elections because those races often have as much impact on citizens as county and state elections, if not more.
With several contested city races, Garlock said it’s especially important for citizens to be informed about their options.
“So often, you see school board, city council and mayoral elections running uncontested,” he said. “We want to get the public as involved as possible.”
Members of the public can submit questions for the candidates in advance through the Northwest Property Owners Alliance Facebook page or submit questions at the forum.
