Critical Race Theory made headlines recently. Unfortunately, GOP legislators used the issue as a ruse to undermine Idaho Education Standards in the 2021 Legislative Session. Moreover, they based their justification on a false claim. According to Columnist Shawn Vestal, in the Spokesman Review, “This year’s assault on education in the Idaho Legislature was sparked by a claim that a white student at Boise State University had been demeaned and “forced to apologize for being white.” Drawing on the kerfuffle caused by this false claim, the GOP passed legislation preventing the teaching of Critical Race Theory in Idaho Schools. Surprisingly, the purpose behind the theory was never fully presented or considered. Instead, we received a one-sided slough of misinformation presented by disingenuous Idaho Republican legislators.
This Friday, the club looks at Critical Race Theory with an eye toward revealing the truth behind the turmoil. To assist with this matter, the club will present three short videos on the subject. Hopefully, these presentations will help you comprehend Critical Race Theory, and why it should be taught in schools.
We distribute a Zoom link for our club meeting on the Thursday prior to the meeting date. To request the link or assistance getting connected, contact Phil at pjwmia@aol.com.
