Central Committee Meeting
We are still meeting virtually. Therefore, if you would like to participate and do not have the link, please contact Cindy Algeo. The agenda includes a brief County Caucus to determine representatives to the IDP Convention in June.
The KCDCC serves as the governing arm of Kootenai County Democrats. Its main purpose is to recruit and support candidates for public office. The Central Committee consists of individual precinct captains. Precinct captains are ordinary people who make up the foundational governing structure of the Democratic Party. Precinct captains work to identify and organize Democrats in their assigned precinct. They work collectively to turn out votes to elect Democrats to public office. The body operates under Robert’s Rules of Order.
About the County Caucus
Help us shape the future of the Kootenai County Democrats by participating in the 2022 County Caucus. A caucus is the process we use to elect delegates to the Democratic Idaho State Central Committee. If interested, you can sign up to be a delegate. Every election year, delegates from all over the state gather at the Idaho Democratic Party’s state convention. Together, they participate in re-drafting the party platform and submit resolutions for consideration by the body. Kootenai County can send thirty-four delegates to the convention.
The event will be held virtually from 6-8 PM. To register for the caucus, click here: https://www.mobilize.us/idahodems/event/448109/
Voting will take place during the Central Committee meeting. If there are more than thirty-four delegates competing, there will be an election. In this case, each candidate will have a minute to present a case for consideration. The eligible delegates, who fail to receive sufficient votes, can serve as alternates. Alternates are available to step in if an elected delegate is unable to attend the convention.
