KC Dems Club ONLINE: 2022 School Safety & Maintenance Levy

The Coeur d’Alene School District consists of seventeen school campuses plus a school bus yard, maintenance shops, school meal operations, textbook depository, technology warehouse, public meeting space, and district offices. Taken together, these capital resources represent $346 million in public investment. Maintenance of this infrastructure is extensive. For example, there is an ongoing back log of repair and replacement priorities to address aging infrastructure such as heating and cooling systems, roofs and flooring, audio-visual systems, security systems, and parking lots.

To fund these maintenance projects, the district is seeking public approval for a 2022 School Safety & Maintenance Levy. If approved, the levy would raise $8 million per year for 10 years from a property tax assessment for public school safety, health, and maintenance projects. For example, the levy would add about thirty-one cents per $1,000 of taxable assessed value to 2023 property tax assessments.

This levy vote appears on the August 30th ballot. It requires 55% voter approval to pass. [View Flier]
