KC Dems Club on-line: Maggie Lyons, PAHA–Housing Shortage

Property values in North Idaho are rising faster than ever. Consequently, affordable housing is becoming harder to find for Idahoans with lower to moderate income. Moreover, as the population grows, accessibility to affordable living options will only increase. Therefore, to help understand the affordable housing shortage and outline potential solutions, the Democrat Club is excited to welcome Maggie Lyons. Maggie is the Interim Director of Panhandle Affordable Housing Alliance (PAHA). The mission of PAHA is to build a stronger community by creating decent affordable homes and advocating for Idaho’s less advantaged individuals and families.

Join Maggie Lyons this Friday at noon online for a discussion about the housing crisis and ways to create affordable living options here in North Idaho.

ABOUT MAGGIE LYONS

Maggie grew up in Sandpoint and graduated from the University of Idaho. She and her husband Marc currently live in Hayden Lake, where they raised two sons. As a licensed CPA, Maggie worked on business restructurings and liquidations over the past 20 years. She describes her work as helping people resolve their fights over money. In early 2018, Maggie launched Charity Reimagined (RI); a non-profit dedicated to changing the paradigm for helping people in need. The focus of RI is to help individuals and families break the cycle of chronic dependency and build individual financial capacity. Then, in the summer of 2018, Maggie assumed managerial duties of the North Idaho Housing Coalition (NIHC). This financially troubled institution is a provider of low-income housing. Fortunately, under Maggie’s leadership, NIHC successfully repaid its debts and has reorganized as Panhandle Affordable Housing Alliance (PAHA).
