Calling All Democrats! Join us for a parade walk down Sherman Avenue on the 4th of July! Wear your blue KC Dems t-shirt* or any blue top to help us create a great blue wave of Democrats!
The Chamber of Commerce website states, “We are so thrilled to introduce our theme, the Spirit of America, as the inspiration for this year’s 4th of July celebration in downtown Coeur d’Alene. After a difficult couple of years, our goal was to create an event that would bring our community together. Our annual 4th of July celebration inspires gratitude, unity, and hope. With that in mind, we have made it our goal to inspire and engage our local community to reclaim the Spirit of America. . .” If you want to bring signs, try to tie your message to this theme.
Two miniature donkeys and a shiny blue Mercedes convertible will accompany us down the parade route.
We will gather in the vicinity of 18th and 19th St and Sherman Ave about 9:30-11:00 am. The Parade begins at 11:00 but due to our parade position, it will take a while to get to us. Plan your arrival time accordingly.
*If you would like to purchase a $15 Dem t-shirt on parade day, please leave a message and call-back number at 208 763 3361.
In case you are concerned about security during the Parade, we received this information from Jeannette Laster, C of C Parade Director:
The Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber of Commerce and local law enforcement work closely together to ensure a safe and fun family event. I want to assure you that there have been no reported threats to the 4th of July Celebration Day. In light of the recent uptick in concerning activities that have raised awareness around a specific event, there is no reason to assume that this will have a similar response from bad actors inside or coming from outside our area. . . I regularly observe and have conversations on challenging social media groups and accounts. Local and federal law enforcement also have amazing criminal analysts in the region. Rest assured that all will be well.”
And Katie Rose Hargreaves, C of C V-P for Member Experience, says “Like you, the safety and security of our community is very important to us. . . law enforcement will have a presence at our Coeur d’Alene Fourth of July Festivities including the City of Coeur d’Alene Police, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, the Idaho State Police and extra private security.”
