KC Dem Club on-line: PanHandle health District–Update on Covid

Since the initial outbreak in Wuhan, China in late 2019, the COVID-19 virus has spread around the globe and mutated in numerous ways. So far, the most impactful mutations have been the Delta and Omicron variants. As a result of the virus’s resilience and a concerted effort by antivaxxers to resist immunization, in the US alone there are currently over 75 million known cases of infection and nearly 900,000 documented COVID-related deaths. To help us assess the current state of the pandemic and its impact in our area, we welcome Dr. Karen Yao and Registered Nurse Kristina Gaven to the Democrat Club. Dr. Yao is an epidemiologist for Panhandle Health District and nurse Gavin is Incident Commander for the District’s COVID-19 Response effort.

Join them this Friday at noon online for a fact-based analysis of the virus response effort and its implications for the future.
