kc-dem-club-on-line-only-Dr-Rick-MacLennan-NIC-Accreditation-Under-Investigation

The Democratic Club is excited to feature North Idaho College (NIC) President Rick MacLennan. Dr. MacLennan is engaging with various civic groups to present details about NIC’s threatened institutional accreditation. Currently, NIC is under investigation by the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWCCU) for violations related to Board Conduct. According to the complaint, members of the NIC board of trustees violated the civil rights and liberties of employees and students (CDA Press, Apr. 30, 2021). If the Board confirms these violations, withdrawing certification is likely. If so, the effects would be devastating to the college and our community.

Complaint Against NIC

Four regional human rights task forces co-signed the complaint, dated March 12, against NIC’s accreditation eligibility. They submitted it to NWCCU and the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department. To be specific, the notice of objection demands a full investigation of the institution’s leadership. The signatories are the Kootenai, Bonner, Boundary, and Spokane County Human Rights Task Forces.
