KC Dem Club on-line: Jessica Mahuron–Civic Engagement Alliance

This Friday, we welcome Jessica Mahuron. As many of you know, Jessica is the founder and director of the Civic Engagement Alliance (CAE). If possible, Board Member Carrie Morrison will join her. We are excited to welcome Jessica back to the Club for a discussion about the importance of civic engagement and how it can be encouraged.

We distribute a Zoom link for our club meeting on the Thursday prior to the meeting date. To request the link or assistance getting connected, contact Phil at pjwmia@aol.com.

Also, find videos of past Club meetings at KootenaiCountyDemClub.com/Meeting Videos.

Civic Engagement Alliance

CAE is a local non-profit whose mission is to “generate community engagement for the common good.” CAE is nonpartisan and is working to provide ways to improve civic engagement in this time of unrelenting divisiveness.

The Kootenai Democrats recognize that civic engagement is essential. Moreover, we have seen what happens when our common values breakdown and public civility deteriorates. For example, in the past few weeks, we have witnessed many situations that reflect a breakdown in civil order. First, unruly anti-mask and anti-vaccination demonstrations shutdown the offices at the CDA School District. Second, three vindictive NIC Trustees succeeded in an unfounded removal of an outstanding NIC President further threatening the College’s Accreditation. Finally, we see GOP handy work at play as they put forward hand-picked partisan candidates for non-partisan administrative positions for the upcoming election.
