On Tuesday, May 16, voters will choose two candidates to sit on the board of the Community Library Network. Judy Meyer and Regina McCrea currently hold these positions and they are both running for reelection. As usual, the KCGOP is recruiting disingenuous unqualified candidates to unseat them. To help explain what is at stake, the Democrat Club invited Judy Meyer and Regina McCrea to join us.
In her candidacy announcement, longtime network trustee Judy Meyer was on the money with this statement: “There are some in our community who would like to take over the Kootenai County institutions and turn them into organizations that reflect their political, social, or religious views. We are seeing this at NIC, where the college’s accreditation is currently in jeopardy. I am running for re-election so our libraries will continue to serve everyone. That means no political, social, or religious agendas imposed on our patrons.” (Coeur d’Alene Press, 4/2/23) More information about the Incumbents and their challengers are available here: Book restriction debate at the heart of Community Library Network Board of Trustees elections in North Idaho.
Join Judy Meyer and Regina McCrea this Friday at noon, online for a discussion about the ongoing threats to our public libraries and the people who are working to defend them.
