If you take a closer look at your property tax assessment, you will find a list of charges from various taxing districts. For example, your assessment includes charges from the county, the city you live in, your public libraries, your school district, water and sewer district, highway district, and soil improvement district, to name a few. It is difficult to know whether these entities’ charges are reasonable and effective with all these individual entities and charges.
To help us understand who receives your money, and whether these various independent taxing authorities are effectively organized, we have invited former Kootenai County Commissioner Chris Fillios and his wife Linda to join us. Together, they will discuss the inner workings of the property tax assessment process and shed light on who makes these decisions.
Join us this Friday, at noon, online for a guided tour through the maze of property taxes.
