Conservatives have latched onto the term woke and are using it in virtually every argument they make against progressiveness. For example, in the recent bank failure at SVB (Silicon Valley Bank) conservative politicians and pundits took to the airwaves to blame wokeness for a bank’s collapse. Yet when asked to explain wokeness, they struggle to offer a credible definition.

This Friday, at noon online the Kootenai Democrats will look at this hot-button term using three short videos. The videos tackle the origins of the term, the progressive definition and use of the word, and how the right has distorted it to support their regressive agenda.

Join us to discuss the term “woke” and share your opinions about how Democrats can stand against the distortions presented by right-wing idealogues. Fighting back with clarity and truth is our goal.
