Libraries, particularly public libraries, are essential for our country. Despite social media’s being the communications giant, libraries do matter. Did you know that 1.2 billion (that’s billion with a “B”) Americans visited our public libraries in 2019. That is more than ten times the total of all people who attended NBA, NFL, Baseball or Hockey games all combined in that same year. Now we are constantly reading books banned, library boards criticized, and worst of all librarians threatened. We cannot accept this behavior. We must fight back and win.
This Friday, Sep. 16th, noon, ONLINE the Kootenai Democratic Club offers a chance for all to speak, make suggestions, and take a stand against this un-American behavior. We will use a combination of podcasts, news articles and suggestions on what we should and can do. We are attempting to have a librarian join us to answer questions and explain what has been happening. The link to join the meeting will be sent on Thursday 9/15.
