“Some Dogs I Have Known”
– A presentation about dogs and the things they teach us about life, love, and politics.
Maybe we can learn more than we think about politics from canines. Examples of leadership and being a follower may be found among our four legged friends (even if you are not a dog person). This Friday, April 19th, noon, at the Iron Horse, 407 Sherman Avenue, our guest speaker is Dan Hanks. Dan was a candidate for the State Legislature in District 3. Both Dan and his brother Shem sought election as Democrats. Dan running in District 3 which is a particular challenge for any Democrat made a remarkable showing and hopefully will run again. Dan is a very informed person, a good speaker and has a story well worth hearing. He is also a member of the US Federation of Sled Dog Sports. Listen to Dan this Friday as he explains what he has learned and how he applies it to his life and politics. This talk will be well worth your time so don’t miss it and bring a friend.
Dan grew up in the Northwest; making stops in locations including Alaska, Montana, before finally landing in Coeur d’Alene. He describes himself as “a paradoxical combination of nerd, philosopher, and dog owner.” He competes in Ironman Triathlon, and Adventure Sports including skijor. In addition, he is a board member of the United States Federation of Sled Dog Sports and competes for the first ever Team USA for Sled Dog Sports.
Dan is a managing partner of Northwest College Support. He was influential in developing the most innovative comprehensive college support option for young adults. His service offers therapeutic growth, academic support and transitional skill development. Dan is passionate about people meeting their highest potential. He realizes that each individual is different and each person walks a unique path towards a goal.
