
Captain Edmondson is a 30 year resident of Kootenai County and her husband Andy is a native son. She started working for the Sheriff’s Office in 1992. Her first position was as a Detention Deputy in the county jail. Since then, she served as a Jail Training Officer, Instructor, Sergeant, Administrative Sergeant, Support Services Commander, and Jail Bureau Commander. In addition, she has also worked in Patrol, serving as the Detective Division Commander as well as Public Information Officer.
In her role as captain, she currently acts as the Investigations and Professional Standards Division Commander. She also serves as the Deputy Director of Kootenai County’s Office of Emergency Management. In addition, she is an Adjunct Professor at North Idaho College where she teaches Introduction to Criminal Justice. Kim holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University and is actively involved in our community.
When she’s not working, Kim enjoys being a grandmother and spending time with her family on their ranch near Hayden where they ride horses and raise cattle.
