
Get Inspired at the 1st Annual Coeur d’Alene Mini Maker Faire
Mark your calendars for the 1st Annual Coeur d’Alene Mini Maker Faire on Saturday, July 13th! The event will take place at Gizmo-Cda on the North Idaho College Campus In the Hedlund Bldg. from 10 AM – 5 PM. The address is 283 N Hubbard St, Cd’A.
The Coeur d’Alene Mini Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for makers of all kinds to show hobbies, experiments, and projects. We call it the Greatest Show (& Tell) in Coeur d’Alene – a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness. Part science fair and part county fair, attendees will leave inspired to build and create new things. This spectacular local event celebrating the maker movement is organized by Gizmo-Cd’A in partnership with the Community Library Network, University of Idaho and North Idaho College. Admission to the event is FREE. Glimpse the future and get inspired!
There will be 50+ interactive demonstrations, activities, and workshops scheduled throughout the day both inside Gizmo’s 20,000 square foot makerspace and outside on the North Idaho College campus. Some of the many activities include: use the machines at Gizmo, cosplay, play with electronics, do engineering, learn about 3D Printing, work with leather, make jewelry, learn printmaking, use an Arduino, Raspberry Pi, build mutant toys, virtual reality, do art projects, carve a rock, learn about felting, sew a project, science projects and play giant games. Some of the many participating makers include Say Roar Studio, VR CDA, Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance, Robosprout, Art Salvage, Cultured Mama, Bear Paw Quilting, and Irv’s Jewelry and Rock Lapidary.
Food vendors and live music will be available at the event. Artists scheduled to play on-stage are Ren E & Davis, Matt Russell, Ethereal in E, Hobo Hangout and Current Flow. Gizmo-Cd’A thanks valued sponsors Idaho Forest Group, STCU, Berg Manufacturing, Tedder Industries, Washington Trust Bank, Make: Magazine, Octofox Creative and Century Publishing for making this free event to benefit the community possible.
