East Sherman Master Plan
This Friday, the Democratic Club will hear from Hilary Anderson. Hillary is the Community Planning Director for the City of Coeur d’Alene’s Planning Department. She will present an overview and update on the East Sherman Master Plan. The planning effort began in 2015 as a partnership between the City and CDA 2030-the greater Coeur d’Alene community visioning organization. The East Sherman Master Plan is part of the 2014 CDA 2030 Implementation Plan. The plan is based on input from over 3,000 community members. It was reaffirmed as a priority project for the Planning Department by the City Council in 2017.
First, Hillary will provide background on the community involvement and feedback received to date. Then, she will present results from the recent Strategy Workshop and Design Studio Open House. In addition, the presentation will highlight the overarching goals of the master plan. For example, one goal is to create a shared vision to guide long-term decision making. Another is to develop an action-oriented master plan for physical and economic development of East Sherman and details on the technical assistance from Community Builders and their consultants. The details support the City and CDA 2030 with urban design, community engagement, zoning code evaluation, funding strategies, and Pro Forma reports on catalyst projects. Finally, the presentation will conclude with next steps and a Call to Action. So, come down to the Iron Horse Bar and Grill for an overview of the East Sherman Master Plan.

CDA 2030 is a community-based project. More importantly, it serves to develop a vision for a bright future for greater Coeur d’Alene. However, it is more than a vision, it also provides a plan to get there. In addition, the project is an alliance of citizen volunteers representing key public, private, civic, and community-based constituencies. This coalition works in partnership to sponsor a ‘visioning’ process for our community. CDA 2030 is an independent, non-partisan, non-aligned effort with one overriding goal – a bright future for greater Coeur d’Alene.
