Dem Club: Moms Demand Action: BeSMART–Gun Sense in America

This Friday the Democratic Club welcomes Sue Morgan Depew and Alice Arambarri, the co-leaders of Moms Demand Action North Idaho. Sue and Alice came together to form this branch of Moms Demand Action after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting earlier this year. They are both local Coeur d’Alene Moms who believe in the importance of gun safety.

Sue and Alice will be talking to the Club about the BeSMART program. The BeSMART campaign asks parents and all responsible adults to prevent these tragedies by following five simple steps; Secure guns in homes and vehicles, Model responsible behavior around guns, Ask about the presence of guns in other homes, Recognize the risks of teen suicide, and Tell your peers to Be SMART. Since 2015 Moms Demand Action volunteers have been spreading the message about responsible storage in their communities.

Moms Demand Action is a non-partisan grassroots movement to mobilize moms, families and everyday Americans to advocate for stronger gun laws. They believe their common-sense, middle-ground solutions to the escalating problem of gun violence in America are straightforward.
