Idahoans for a Fair Wage Goes Over 10,000 Signatures for Minimum Wage Petition
Boise, Idaho, September 4, 2019 – Rod Couch, leader of Idahoans for a Fair Wage, has called a press conference today at 2:30 p.m. on the steps of the Idaho State Capitol to announce that the group has exceeded 10,000 signatures in its effort to put a minimum wage increase in Idaho on the 2020 ballot. The announcement comes just one month after the group topped the 5,000-signatures mark.
“This train is picking up steam,” Couch noted. “Topping 10,000 signatures this early in the campaign is a great achievement, especially being so soon after we reached 5,000. It is a testament to the amazing passion and hard work by all of our volunteers, led so ably by county leaders Lisa Schaff in North Idaho, Tamara Code in Eastern Idaho, Shelly Dumas in Idaho County, Christina Aburto in Washington County, and Chelle Gluch and Misty Dawn in Canyon County, and District Leaders Dianna David, Rita Sherman, Marji Bass, Chrystal Allen, Lynn Schmidt, Carol Sevier, Lauren Ghazikhanian and Diane Jensen in Ada County. And, we are eternally grateful to our all-Idaho team of donors who have contributed at fairwageid.org and made all of this possible!”
The group filed its initiative in February and began collecting signatures in June. The measure needs 55,057 signatures statewide and must be signed by 6% of registered voters in at least 18 of the state’s 35 districts to appear on the ballot.
To celebrate this achievement as well as to continue momentum, Lisa Schaff of Hayden, Idaho invites supporters to Join us CELEBRATING 10,000 signatures including 1,000 already verified in Kootenai County.
