Tarie Zimmerman of Coeur d’Alene is pleased to announce her candidacy for North Idaho College Board of Trustees, zone 1. An active community volunteer and financial advisor, when Ms. Zimmerman was asked to run for this non-partisan office, as she stated, “when asked to help, I most often say yes”. Her passion for giving back, dedication to NIC success, and service on other boards of directors led her to run.
Tarie is a great supporter of the community college format, having attended a JC herself, an experience which she firmly believes facilitated later success in higher education and her professional career. Tarie spent many years in aerospace engineering enjoying the challenge but stepped away for an even greater challenge – raising her four boys. During this time, she was devoted to the children’s educational and extracurricular success, volunteering in schools and the community, managing her son’s hockey teams, and owning a small business.
Her roots in local education reach back to her father’s attendance at the historic Roosevelt School. Today she supports education at all levels. “I believe that North Idaho College is an integral part of our community, instrumental for development of youth and adults, and a valuable community financial asset. I will bring conservative leadership to the NIC Board of Trustees, offering calm professionalism to fellow Board members toward success and growth of NIC.”
