Last week, the Kootenai County Democrats’ Community Outreach Committee put out a final call for our annual food drive — and the community answered with an overwhelming response! Because of the incredible generosity of KC Dem members and the local community, in just four hours during the drive-by, drop-off event, volunteers gathered 2,900 pounds of food and $3,500 in donations. All told, that equates to nearly $8,000 worth of meals. Meals that will feed the equivalent of 10,000 of our friends and neighbors.
It was clear that people wanted to give and give generously to a positive local cause in this most challenging of years.

Both the Coeur d’Alene (Community Action Partnership) and Post Falls food banks are the beneficiaries of the food drive, and innumerable families will have a more bountiful Thanksgiving because of everyone who donated. We would also like to thank the CDA Parks Department for the use of a convenient parking lot for the event.
