2022 Election Milestone
March 11 is a key milestone for the 2022 election season, and it is coming up quickly. This date is the deadline for changing party affiliation for the May 17 Primary Election and for interested parties to register their intentions to run for county-wide and state-wide office.
You can expect an announcement about Democratic candidates who are declaring their intentions to run in the next week or two.
Candidate Meet and Greets
Speaking of candidates, you may know that Sandpoint Mayor Shelby Rognstad is running for governor, and Boise attorney Terri Pickens-Manweiler is running for Lt. Governor. What may be news is that both are making plans to visit Coeur d’Alene in the coming weeks. This will be a terrific opportunity for you to meet them and for them to learn more about Kootenai County voters. You can expect us to host both Shelby and Terri at various social events during their visits. I hope you will make plans to attend at least one of them. There will be more details about these visits posted on our website events page and Facebook page as they become available.
KCRCC sullies the good names of local Republicans
Did you see Teresa Borrenpohl’s takedown of the KCRCC in the Sunday Coeur d’Alene/Post Falls Press? Her opinion article entitled “KCRCC’s iron fist hurts GOP,” provides a critical analysis of the problematic candidates endorsed by the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee. If you have not read it already, I invite you to check it out. If you agree with Teresa, feel free to share the post with your friends or better yet your frenemies.
Favorable Indicators Bode Well
Key factors are aligning that could give Idaho Democrats a leg up in the 2022 Election cycle. For example, the Idaho Democrats have assembled a strong field organizing team. Moreover, as mentioned in a previous section, there are already two stellar state candidates actively campaigning with more candidate announcements to follow. In addition, the brisk rate of our fund-raising campaign is a positive sign, and the rising tensions between traditional and radical conservatives creates opportunities to re-align the moderates with our coalition.
Winning Takes Commitment and Effort
Make no mistake, to win in November we will need a sustained and coordinated effort by all. Therefore, please commit to volunteer and contribute funds if you can. There is already a texting and phone banking effort underway. To participate, contact Brody Robbins. Brody is our enthusiastic and friendly North Idaho Field Organizer. He oversees these crucial grassroots activities. His email address is brody@idahodems.org and his phone number is 208 704 2181. Contact him TODAY and let him know you are ready to volunteer. Together, we can restore sanity to Idaho’s government.
