SOIL AND WATER RECOMMENDATIONS

I am getting requests for guidance regarding who are the best options among the Soil and Water Conservation District candidates. Word has it that Scarcello, Ely, Evans, and Groth are all worth your vote. Mr. Scarcello has agreed to visit us at our next Central Committee meeting next Tuesday. Plan now to attend if you want to hear from him and other candidates in attendance. You can request the link to our Zoom meeting by reaching out to Secretary Carolyn Mattoon at kootenaicountydemocrats@gmail.com.

HART’S RESIDENCY MATTERS

We have taken up the fight challenging Senator Phil Hart’s residence in Legislative District 2. The Senator continues to claim that he lives in a house in Kellogg. However, the house in question is under construction and neighbors say it has been uninhabited for five years. This may or may not violate Idaho regulations, which merely call for a candidate to show evidence of ownership, not residency. According to reports, Senator Hart is in keeping to the letter of the law, but not the spirit of it. More evidence, as if it were needed, that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Idahoans deserve better from all their elected representatives. That is why real pressure should be brought on the Secretary of State to fully investigate and verify Hart’s living arrangements.

ELECTION NIGHT

Good news: we plan an Election Night Party at Capones’ Pub on the Ponderosa Springs Golf Course in Coeur d’Alene. Watch our Facebook page for details.

MAKE PLANS FOR GOTV

Last, but certainly not least, I am excited to report that our plans for Get Out the Vote are underway. Please plan to devote at least few hours between 10 AM and 8 PM on November 2, 3, 4 and 5 to phone bank or door knock from one of our two planned coordination centers in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls. Details coming soon.

Thanks for being Democrats. And have a fantastic week.
