PLEASE HELP GET OUT THE VOTE

Plans are being made for the Get Out the Vote effort ahead of the November 5th election. These efforts aim to turn out voters. Studies show that door-knocking holds voters accountable, and increases turn out by 7-10%. Whereas phone calling increases turn out by 2-3%.

Making these visits and phone calls in the final days prior to the election is how we reach undecided voters and persuade them to vote. Our aim is to move the needle. With sufficient effort, we might win. Either way, we will certainly increase support for Democrats and make strides toward opening a pathway to ending the GOP supermajority.

IS HART LEGIT?

Phil Hart, Senator for Idaho Legislative District 2 is accused of not living in his district. This is relevant because this is the district he allegedly serves. If he doesn’t live within the district, he is ineligible to run for this legislative seat and should not be on the ballot.

According to the Secretary of State, a similar complaint against Hart was dismissed earlier this year. However, the evidence supporting the dismissal was not made public. What we do know is that the house in Kellogg that Hart lists as his residence has been empty for years. Which would make you wonder how he could be living there.

To shine a light on this issue, the Democratic candidates running in LD 2, Tom Hearn and Loree Peery, joined a press conference in front of the Hart house (it’s a house, not a home) to spread the word about this issue. Hearn is running to unseat the senator. He reminded the group that if this illegal residency issue is confirmed, it will not be the first time Hart has skirted the law. In fact, Hart’s extra-legal behavior includes tax evasion and illegal logging on public property.

To make matters worse, Kellogg resident Diannah Fields-Brown pointed out that although Hart has made four pointless trips to the Mexican border, he has not visited any of the dilapidated schools in his district even once.

We deserve a representative who is law abiding and has our needs foremost in mind. So, tell folks you know in Legislative District 2 that Hart needs to come clean about this issue.
