ABOUT THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE
Before I go any further, I would like to share memorable and amusing comments I gleaned from last night’s debate:
Here are just a few of the inflammatory statements from Trump:
“They are allowing transgender operations on illegal aliens in our prisons.”
In reference to an unsubstantiated story about Haitian immigrants in Ohio, Trump said “the people on the TV are saying they’re eating the pets!”
“What about all the millions of people that are pouring into our country and killing people? When are they going to be prosecuted?”
“Nancy Pelosi and the Mayor of Washington are responsible for January 6th.”
And perhaps the most dangerous quote I heard from Trum was: “We have a nation that is in decline.”
Here are a few memorable remarks from Harris:
“We cannot afford to have a president who upends the will of the voters.”
“We won’t sell our principles for personal vanity.”
“I think it’s disgraceful that someone who wants to be president continues to use race to divide us.”
“The American People deserve and want better.”
“Let us restore a woman’s right to secure the healthcare for her own body. Let us restore respect for our democracy, our military, and the investments we can make over the next ten years in the American people.”
NEW CITY COUNCIL LEADERSHIP
Congratulations to Dan English who was recently elected by the members of the City Council to serve the position of Coeur d’Alene Council President. Dan is North Idaho’s sole elected Democrat, a True-Blue servant of the citizens of Coeur d’Alene. Thank you for your service, Dan!
HARRIS-WALZ CAMPAIGN MERCH

REPUBLICAN DISAFFECTION FOR TRUMP IS REAL
Despite the varying results from the latest polls, it is clear to me that the campaign trend is unmistakably in favor of Harris-Walz. I take my solace from all the Republicans who are saying publicly that they won’t vote for Trump.
For example, two former Republican vice presidents have declared that they are not supporting Trump. This includes Vice President Mike Pence and now Vice President Dick Cheney. Both are opposed to Trump serving another term as President. More importantly, Dick Cheney and his daughter, former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, have also declared their support for the Harris-Walz ticket.
Another Republican, former Georgia Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan, declared his support for Harris-Walz at the Democratic National Convention. He described this trend of Republicans rejecting Trump as “a true reflection of how bad Donald Trump is…” He went further by saying, “Look, the Republican Party loses no matter what. If Donald Trump gets beat by Kamala Harris — like I think is going to happen — the Republican Party loses. But if Donald Trump wins, the Republican Party loses even more: We will lose any and all credibility that we’ve got.”
