GREETINGS FROM CHICAGO

I am proud to be counted as one of the three delegates from Kootenai County who are among the fifty thousand people attending the 2024 Democratic National Convention. I hope you have been checking out the photos on our Facebook page and elsewhere on social media. You can also find coverage of our participation in the Coeur d’Alene Press and the Spokesman Review.

If you have been watching the DNC convention, you know that it has been one giant extravaganza. The days are filled with caucus meetings, council assemblies, and union conferences. While the evenings feature speeches from party dignitaries such as governors, members of Congress and former elected officials that are broadcast nationwide on television and the internet. During Tuesday’s ceremonial rollcall vote, Idaho unanimously cast our twenty-eight votes for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Although the nomination was already set, it was fun to watch the delegates from each state and territory voice their support for the Democratic Ticket.

Thankfully, we now have candidates for President and Vice President, who possess the energy and will, to lead us to a victory in November.

GET OUT THE VOTE

But do not let this spike in enthusiasm allow you to become complacent. There is still work to do to ensure a Democratic Win. As Michelle Obama said in her remarkable speech on Tuesday night, it is up to all of us to “DO SOMETHING.”

So, please reach out to your friends, neighbors, and loved ones who may be resistant to voting for Democrats. Try to listen and take in what they are feeling. Remember that they may just need someone to give them permission to turn the page on Trump. Also, make sure that every Democrat and Democrat leaning person you know has a plan to vote. Encourage them to vote early by mail, if possible, by signing up for an Absentee ballot.

Voting early makes that process so much easier. Every early vote is one voter we do not have to chase in the run up to Election Day.

Everything a voter needs to know can be found at VoteIdaho.Gov.

Click on the Voting drop down menu. There you can confirm your voter registration or register to vote. In addition, you can find out where to vote in person or request an Absentee Ballot.

Remember, we are all in this together and When We Fight, We Win.

TURN OUT FOR DEMOCRATS

And finally, I hope you all attend the Fundraise and Graze Benefit this Friday, August 23 at Lake City Center. This event is a fantastic opportunity to rub shoulders with fellow Democrats while supporting our local candidates. Unfortunately for me, I will be on a plane travelling back from Chicago. However, I hope to send out a short video message before I depart. Hopefully, you will all have a chance to see it.

Take care everyone and thanks for being Democrats.
