Forward Together

Next Wednesday, May 29 is our Candidate Launch Party called Forward Together. This event marks the end of the Primary Election season, and the start of the campaign for the November General Election. This year we have ten local candidates running for elective office. This is more than we have had in years, and these individuals need all the support we can give them.

So, join your Democrat friends next Wednesday at 6 PM at the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce building on Front Street. This kickoff event features food and music, along with introductory speeches from the candidates. It will be a fun but serious start toward correcting the course of Kootenai County politics.

Support Free Expression

If you attended Pride in the Park in 2022, you may recall the name Eric Posey. Eric is an LGBTQ Drag Performer who was part of the entertainment at this perennial Coeur d’Alene City Park event.

The day after Pride, Summer Bushnell, a local far-rightwing blogger posted a video from the dance routine showing Posey’s performance. Bushnell’s video blurred his groin area to imply that his routine had been purposefully revealing. She accused him of indecent exposure and called for his arrest.

After an intensive investigation, Posey was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Now, Posey has taken Bushnell to court. His suit contends that her accusations were knowingly false, and her actions defamed him. Her post led to his outright harassment and turned his life upside down.

The court case is already in process, and Eric needs our support. Consequently, I am asking anyone who can spare an hour or two to respectfully attend the trial, wearing Pink or Purple, if possible, in solidarity with Eric.

You can come and go at your leisure if you are quiet and respectful. So, you do not need to attend the entire session. Currently, far right agitators are primarily in attendance, and they are being a little disrespectful, so serving as a contrasting example of respect and dignity would go a long way.

Trial Schedule:

  • Thursday (5/23) from 8:30-2:30
  • And Friday (5/24) from 8:30-5 p.m.

The trial is in Courtroom 9 at 324 W. Garden Ave. in Coeur d’Alene.

Thank you.
