What’s With the Sherriff’s Dept?
Back in the Fall, we got word that Sheriff Norris donated a full day ride-along to the Kootenai County Republican Women Federated. The KCRWF auctioned off the ride-along for $3000, and shortly thereafter donated more than that sum to the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee. This chain of transactions appears to have transferred public dollars to a partisan recipient. And it raises a couple potential issues. First, donating public resources to partisan organizations creates at the very least the feeling of political bias or at worst corruption on the part of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO). And second, it raises the question of whether the Sheriff would make the same offer to the Democrats or one of our allied organizations like the Dems Club or the Women’s Caucus? This is a developing story. But if you are interested in riding along with a sheriff’s deputy, please let us know. Better yet, let the KCSO know. They can be reached at: email@example.com. You can also attend a “Coffee with Your Sheriff” at the Bakery by The Lake on Front Avenue, at 9:30 AM on January 24, 2024. He will welcome members of the Coeur d’Alene community and address issues. I invite you to take this opportunity to give him your feedback.
Big Blue Democracy Dinner
If you are like me, your social media presence is limited to Facebook. At least mine was until recently when I downloaded Instagram. If so, you may be unaware of the two guests who will keynote our February 17th BIG BLUE DEMOCRACY DINNER. Therefore, allow me to introduce you to them.
Our first guest is Jess Piper, who can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and comes to us from the community organization known as Blue Missouri. Jess hosts the podcast “Dirt Road Democrat,” a forum about progressive people living in unpopulated areas. Sound familiar? Check out Jess wherever you listen to podcasts.
Our second guest is better known by the social media handle @socialistlyawkward. Also known as Lindsay, she is a registered nurse in Boise and a popular influencer. Download Instagram from the App Store and watch Lindsay’s videos. They are sharp, brief and to the point.
You will want to meet them both in person. So, Get Your Tickets Now for the BB Democracy Dinner. See you there.
