First Things First

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who attended the Blue Comeback Party at Shari Williams’ home. I hope you had fun and reconnected with other Democrats. We raised a bunch of money, which will help us to underwrite a field organizer’s salary. Brace yourselves because we will continue to ask for donations. This is a crucial step towards building a bigger and more dynamic Democratic presence in Kootenai County and Idaho.

Central Committee Meeting

Next month, on Monday, July 12th, the Central Committee meets in person for the first time in over a year. The meeting at the County Administration Building will also be simulcast for those who prefer to watch from home. The details for these monthly meetings are posted on our website event calendar.

Podcasts to Consider

Do you listen to podcasts? If so, here are two recommendations that are worth considering. They are uplifting and they let you know that there is an alternative political reality that is not based on being crazy. The beauty of podcasts is that you can listen to them whenever you want. Moreover, it does not depend on where you are. Just subscribe to the podcast from your smart phone or listen online from a computer. For me, I look forward to each new episode.

The first recommendation is Pod Save America. I never miss an episode. This podcast features four former aides to President Obama—Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy Vietor. Together, these political insiders provide commentary on breaking news items relating to politics, including the Biden administration, the US government, the Democratic Party, and progressive grassroots activism. Each week, they release two new episodes. The show is one of a host of liberal-leaning programs produced by Crooked Media.

Another recommendation is No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen. My friend Shawn Keenan turned me onto it last week. Cohen is an American actor, journalist, and podcast host whose show covers the most important and breaking political stories of the week. Recently, he covered the Texas Dem Walkout. What I like about him is that he interviews people who are directly involved in the news of the day. You might say that No Lie is a faster moving and snappier version of Pod Save America. The conversations tend to be briefer, but the guests are top notch, and the topics are thoroughly discussed.

American Heroes Parade

Looking ahead, the Central Committee voted to participate in this year’s July 4th Parade. Consequently, we invite all Democrats to “wear the blue” and join us for a walk down Sherman Avenue. I look forward to seeing you there. Watch for more information about this event in the next week or two.

SPAN Walk

And finally, please set aside September 11th and plan to join fellow democrats at the Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk. This is another event that we are proud to support. I will let you know more about it in the weeks to come.

Have a wonderful week everyone, and thanks for being a Democrat.
